Ideas for the classroom

  • Word sorts. Print a list of words that start with the same letter and have students sort them by vowel sound.
  • Spelling ladders. Pick five-letter words that differ by one letter and build a chain.
  • Dictionary practice. Each list shows a short meaning for the most common words; ask students to find the rest.
  • Word-game warm-ups. Give teams a set of letters and let them check their answers with the word unscrambler.

Yes, for classroom and personal use.

Are the words suitable for children?

We remove slurs and other offensive words, but the lists include every valid word, some of them rare. Review a list before handing it out to young students.
