How to use it
- Enter the seven tiles on your rack. Use ? for a blank.
- If you want to play through letters on the board, add them in the board box, with ? for each open square.
- Pick from the list, highest score first. Words that use all seven of your tiles are outlined: they earn a 35-point bonus.
Words With Friends scores letters differently
The game uses its own tile values, and the helper scores every word with them. Compared with Scrabble, B, C, M and P are worth 4 instead of 3, U and L are worth 2 instead of 1, J is worth 10 instead of 8, V is worth 5 instead of 4, and H and Y are worth 3 instead of 4. A word that is average in Scrabble can be a strong play here, so check this list rather than a Scrabble one.
Ways to score more
- Hit the premium squares with heavy letters. A J, Q, X or Z on a triple-letter square is often worth more than a long word.
- Play parallel. Placing a short word along another word makes several two-letter words at once, and each one scores.
- Hold the blank for a bingo. The 35-point bonus is easier to reach with a blank on your rack.
- Dump awkward tiles. If your rack is all vowels or all consonants, a lower score now can set up a better rack next turn.
Which words are valid
Words With Friends started from ENABLE and has since added and removed words of its own, including some slang. Most results here will be accepted. If a word you know is missing, the game may have added it later; let us know and we will review it. Read more about our word list.
